'A Giving Plate' is a Community Interest Company (CIC) founded by Sheetal Arora, a survivor of domestic violence and the founder of Homemade Curries. Our aim is to empower women survivors of domestic violence by providing practical culinary training, supportive employment opportunities, and a nurturing community—helping them rebuild confidence, gain independence, and create brighter futures

A Note From Our Founder
My name is Sheetal, and I founded A Giving Plate to support women rebuilding their lives after domestic violence. As a mother of two, I understand the challenges of starting over with limited resources and support. Leaving an abusive situation was a difficult and lonely journey, but through encouragement from friends and family and by drawing on my skills in cooking, I was able to regain my confidence and independence by starting a small catering business.
At A Giving Plate, we provide more than culinary training and employment opportunities—we offer a safe, supportive environment where women can develop practical skills, rebuild self-belief, and take meaningful steps toward a brighter future. Our mission is to empower women to move from surviving to thriving, with dignity and hope.
